i don't even own a cat

So here I am, sitting in front of this screen glaring blankly at me, without a word to write...

Blogging seems like such a good idea, and judging by how it's taken off, it more than seems like a good idea...but what do you blog about? I mean apart from writing essay upon essay about my cat or turning this into a sort of online diary, what can I write about that anyone out there could possibly find interesting or even mildly amusing. Because that's why we do this isn't it, for other people, if we were going to blog to ourselves we would simply keep a journal and not share it with the world. No, this is our virtual soapbox, a place where we can share our ideas and opinions and philosophies with the whole world and feel more accomplished because of it...even if no-one ever actually stumbles across our street corner. Sure friends and family might read some of this if we tell them about it via email or whatever, but as far as the soapbox function goes, it's just not gonna have the same affect. Having said that, your blog will probably be banned in China and who knows by some fluke you might garner a small following or even establish some sort of cult status if you're interesting/controversial enough. This probably means you'll keep on being controversial for controversy's sake, and thus defeat the purpose, but at least you'll feel an empty and fleeting sense of appreciation.

My own reasons for "blogging" is a bit unclear at the moment, initially I signed up just to post a comment on a friend's blog, which required all the steps of setting up one yourself so I thought:"why not?"...because you'll have nothing to write about that's why!! I do take alot of photo's so I might use this as a "this is what i saw today" kinda thing...not original at all I'm sure, but hey. Every now and then I'll share something I deem share worthy or just rant or encourage...who knows I might even write about my cat!
